In the USDA’s Crop Progress and Conditions report released yesterday, Range and pasture conditions in South Dakota are 48 percent good to excellent and in North Dakota 63 percent good to excellent.
North Dakota Stockmen’s Association President Jason Schmidt says at his ranch in Kidder County, those condition ratings sound fairly accurate. He says that grazing conditions this year should turn out alright.
Stock water supplies in North Dakota will pegged by the USDA at 85 percent adequate and 3 percent surplus. Schmidt says that also sounds fairly accurate for his ranch, but may not reflect other areas.
South Dakota’s stock water supplies are rated 76 percent adequate to surplus.
