On July 4, nine head of cattle were killed in Oliver County, N.D. There is a $10,000 reward being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of the cattle. Miles and Marjorie Tomac and John and Kim Dixon, the animals’ owners, have pledged a $9,000 reward to add to the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association’s standing $1,000 reward. 
The NDSA, the Oliver County Sheriff’s Department and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation are investigating the crime, which claimed two cows and a calf owned by the Tomacs and two cows, three calves and a yearling owned by the Dixons. The animals appear to have been shot sometime on Independence Day morning in adjoining pastures approximately two miles north of the Morton County/Oliver County line off Highway 25.
Authorities are asking for the public’s help if anyone has information that would help solve this crime. Tips can be shared by calling the NDSA office at (701) 223-2522 or the Oliver County Sheriff’s Department at (701) 794-3450.
“This was a senseless livestock killing, and we are committed to bringing the person or person responsible to justice,” said NDSA Chief Brand Inspector Stan Misek.
This is the second cattle shooting case in recent weeks. The other involved 14 cattle shot in a pasture near Hankinson, N.D.
