Audio Visit — Folks Are Gearing Up for Dakotafest at the Schlaffman Farm near Mitchell, South Dakota

It’s that time of year for Dakotafest, South Dakota’s largest outdoor farm show.  Dakotafest runs three days – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 15, 16 and 17 – at the Schlaffman Farm in Mitchell.  There will be plenty of agricultural equipment dealers with their latest products on display.

South Dakota State University Extension and the South Dakota Farm Bureau will be doing education sessions in their booths, and livestock producers can learn about the latest in animal care and see livestock chute demonstrations each day thanks to Northwest Veterinary and Supply.

The kids pedal tractor pull sponsored by Winfield United returns to this year’s show –  and a new feature is pig races sponsored by American Family.

Dakotafest usually showcases a candidates forum during election years, but this year’s focus will be on the next farm bill.

We visited with Samantha Castro, marketing manager at IDEAg Group, the same company that hosted  Farmfest in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, last week.
