Checkoff helps bring more biobased products to consumers

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kathleen Merrigan recently unveiled the first 60 products that will bear the new USDA BioPreferred product label for certified biobased products. This label designates biobased products that are composed wholly or significantly of agricultural ingredients, including U.S. soy.

Speaking at the United Soybean Board’s Biobased Stakeholders’ Workshop, Merrigan said these 60 products are just a start, noting that 100 companies have applied for biobased product certification labeling for about 400 products since the beginning of the year.

Check out the audio news report with Merrigan and USB Director Dale Profit, an Ohio soybean farmer, talking about how soybean checkoff support has helped develop beneficial soy-based products.
