South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard has been named vice chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee by NGA Chair Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman and Vice Chair Delaware Gov. Jack Markell.
The Natural Resources Committee has jurisdiction over agriculture, energy, the environment and natural resources issues. Members of the committee ensure that the governors’ views are represented in the shaping of federal policy.
“I am honored to serve on the NGA Natural Resources Committee,” said Gov. Daugaard. “As governors, we are uniquely positioned to influence federal legislation and regulations that affect national and state natural resources policies.”
Gov. Jack Dalrymple has been appointed to serve on the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee.
“I am honored to serve on the NGA Natural Resources Committee and I look forward to making sure that the issues important to North Dakota are brought to bear in our work,” Dalrymple said.
Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy will serve as chair of the committee, which will focus on such things as agriculture policy, drought, land management and land-use planning, national energy and electricity issues, and outdoor recreational resources.
Other members of the NGA Natural Resources Committee are: Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell, California Gov. Jerry Brown, Kentucky Gov. Steven L. Beshear, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, Northern Mariana Islands Gov. Benígno R. Fitial, Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert, West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead.
