Federal Crop Insurance Evolving

With widespread weather challenges this year, federal officials are trying to identify areas that need improvement in the crop insurance system. 

For example, Risk Management Agency Administrator Bill Murphy says the acreage reporting deadlines for the Farm Service Agency and federal crop insurance will be the same day next summer.

Murphy says other changes are in the works to recognize the strides that farmers have made when it comes to crop production.

More changes to enhance program efficiency could be seen over the years to come, and Murphy says the federal budget situation will certainly play a role in the future of federal crop insurance.
