During a news conference at the NAFB Convention Thursday afternoon, Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack detailed some areas where USDA is trying to improve the way it does business. One area targeted for improvement is secreterial Disaster Designations.
In some situations, Vilsack said governors of disaster affected states are not aware of deadlines.
Vilsack said another area for improvement is the acreage reporting dates for the Farm Service Agency and the Risk Managment Agency.
Vilsack said the Department hopes to eliminate paperwork and save time for producers.
