LIP Application Deadline Approaching

Livestock producers who suffered losses in 2011 due to natural disasters and filed a notice of loss with their local Farm Service Agency office have until January 30 to apply for payment through the Livestock Indemnity Program.

LIP pays eligible producers based on a national payment rate, which is 75 percent of the average fair market value of the livestock.  Eligible livestock include cattle, poultry, swine and other animals including sheep, goats and horses.
