Governor Dennis Daugaard has appointed Burke farmer Bill Cerny to the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission.
Cerny is a former South Dakota legislator who served in the state House of Representatives from 1979-2000.
“I’m pleased that Bill is willing to serve on the commission,” Gov. Daugaard said. “He is a lifelong farmer who understands landowner issues, and he gained a great breadth of knowledge while serving on various legislative committees, including the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. Bill also served as legislative liaison to the Board of Water and Natural Resources.”
Cerny succeeds Mike Authier of Vivian, who has been a GFP commissioner since 2003.
“I look forward to the challenge of serving on the Game, Fish and Parks Commission,” Cerny said. “South Dakota is an outdoor paradise for those who hunt, fish and camp, and I know the importance of preserving those traditions for future generations.”
GFP appointments are subject to state Senate confirmation.
