North Dakota 2.0 to hold Fargo Summit

USDA Rural Development announced the capstone event to North Dakota 2.0 scheduled on April 17th, 2012 in Fargo. Introduced last fall, North Dakota 2.0 is an initiative focused on bringing people together to capitalize on the state’s abundance of opportunities while addressing its immediate needs.

Adam Davidson and Alex Blumberg, award-winning hosts of National Public Radio’s Planet Money, will highlight the summit as keynote speakers.  They will be joined by featured speakers Paul von Ebers, President and CEO at Blue Cross Blue Shield of ND, and Jasper Schneider, State Director of USDA Rural Development.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion on the future direction of North Dakota.  Using remote controls, participants will provide instant feedback on a variety of topics.  Results from twelve community meetings across the state will also be revealed.  Afternoon break-out sessions will be facilitated by statewide leaders from a wide range of backgrounds.  The session topics will be concentrated on community development and enrichment; housing and future challenges; business and venture capital; and infrastructure demands.

The summit is being developed in cooperation with sponsors who include: USDA Rural Development, Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Basin Electric Power Cooperative, North Dakota Farmers Union, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, AARP, North Dakota Department of Commerce, Mortenson Construction, NDSU Extension Service Center for Community Vitality, and The Consensus Council.

ND 2.0 will be held on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel in Fargo, with a networking social the night before.  Students will be able to attend the summit at a reduced rate.
