Sound Success in Nashville

Commodity Classic is underway in Nashville, Tennessee.  It’s the official trade show and convention for four different national commodity groups – The American Soybean Association, the National Corn Growers, the National Association of Wheat Growers and the National Sorghum Producers.

Among the dozens of activities underway at this year’s Classic, delegates from the commodity organizations are putting together their policies and priorities for the year ahead.

The American Soybean Association held state caucuses this morning, and the NCGA’s Corn Congress also gathered for policy ideas.  Today’s trade show opens to attendees at one in the afternoon – and it’s a big one – a record crowd of over 5,000 people are said to be attending Commodity Classic this year.

During Friday’s General Session, Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack is slated to give the keynote address…Speaker Mark Mayfield will moderate a roundtable discussion on hot farm topics with the four commodity association presidents – Steve Wellman of the American Soybean Association, Wayne Hurst of the National Association of Wheat Growers, Garry Niemeyer of the National Corn Growers Association, and Terry Swanson of the national Sorghum Producers.
