2011 Crop Commodity loan deadline May 31

Farmers planning to use the Commodity Credit Corporation’s commodity loan program for their 2011 crop are reminded that May 31, 2012, is the deadline for filing applications for the following 2011 crops: corn, dry peas, grain sorghum, lentils, mustard, safflower, chickpeas, soybeans and sunflower seed.

As of May 1, 2012, North Dakota producers had placed under loan the following 2011 crop quantities:  2.7 million bushels of wheat, 5.6 million bushels of corn, and 1.2 million bushels of soybeans.

To be eligible for loan, a producer must have complied with the annual program requirements for the farm that produced the crop and maintain beneficial interest in the commodity placed under loan.
