North & South Dakota pasture and range conditions

North Dakota

Pasture and range conditions were 1 percent very poor, 7 poor, 24 fair, 60 good, and 8 excellent. First cuttings of alfalfa and other hay were 30 percent and 14 percent complete, respectively. Hay conditions were rated 9 percent very poor, 17 poor, 30 fair, 40 good, and 4 excellent. Stockwater supplies were rated 1 percent very short, 8 short, 84 adequate and 7 surplus.

South Dakota

Cattle conditions were rated 95 percent in the good to excellent range, while sheep conditions were rated 98 percent good to excellent. Stock water supplies were 2 percent very short, 16 percent short and 82 percent adequate to surplus. Feed supplies were 1 percent very short, 8 percent short and 91 percent adequate to surplus. Range and pasture conditions were rated 1 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 33 percent fair and 56 percent good to excellent.
