New VP of Ag Products at BNSF Says the Rails Are Ready for Harvest – Audio Visit with Sam Sexhus

USDA will update its harvest progress numbers later this afternoon.
The soybean harvest has begun in the Midwest, and the corn harvest was off to a slow start across the country, according to last week’s report.
With the bulk of the harvest yet to be completed in the Northern Plains, the discussion around this time of the year usually tends to be about railroad company preparation for the harvest – and sometimes – rail car shortages.
Luckily, this is not 2014, when an oil boom in the Dakotas — and several other factors — led to a severe rail car shortage at harvest time.
A native son of North Dakota has risen through the ranks to become the leader of Agriculture Products at BNSF. We visited with Sam Sexhus,  BNSF Group Vice President, Agricultural Products.  He says, for the most part, things look good as more combines get ready to move into fields to bring this year’s harvest to markets around the world.
