The 93rd Little International 4-H and FFA judging contest has been canceled due to weather. The contest put on by North Dakota State University’s Saddle and Sirloin club, was set to happen all day Friday but because of travel challenges and subzero temperatures, the club has decided to call off the contest. More than 500 FFA and 4-H members from around the region were due to compete.
Thursday’s snow storm brought a mixture of snow, low temperatures and blowing wind to the region, causing large drifts along road ways. On Thursday most interstates in the region were closed and plows were pulled off the road. The national weather service has called for a Wind Chill Warning in affect until noon on Friday. The forecast calls for temperatures well below zero, ranging from -18 to -26.
All other activities such as Friday night’s banquet, honoring the 93rd Little International Agriculturist of the Year, Susan Keller and the livestock showmanship contest on Saturday are still set to take place.
