Cargill reported Thursday an explosion at the company’s Dodge City, KS meat processing plant has injured two people. Those two people were in the building when the explosion occurred and are seeking medical attention for burns.
The cause of the explosion in a small stand-alone building near the main facility, is still under investigation. The plant will remain idle Thursday under precautionary measures.
Daniel Sullivan, Cargill’s media relations director issued a statement confirming the event. “We expect to be operational soon and will meet all our customer commitments.”
The facility has a slaughter capacity of 5,200 a head per day and employs 2,700 at the plant.
