For the final week of 2021 we saw rather dismal export sales for grains and livestock. USDA said 10.1 million bushels (mb) of corn, 14.1 mb of soybeans and 1.8 mb of wheat were sold during the week ended Dec. 30, 2021. Marketing year lows were reported in wheat, soybeans, soybean meal and oil. Beef net sales reductions of 3,900 MT for 2021–a marketing-year low for 2021–were down noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.
Now for pork and beef we saw strong 2022 numbers on the weekly export sales report so that was encouraging. Overall, most of these numbers for the week between Christmas and New Years need to be taken with a grain of salt.
