Dakotafest to Help 4-H and FFA Groups Raise Funds

EAGAN, MINNESOTA, May 11, 2022 – IDEAg Group, producer of Dakotafest, invites area 4-H clubs and FFA chapters to sign up for the annual Hay Bale Art Auction to raise money for their organizations.

Groups participating in this program will work, as a club or chapter, to design and build a sculpture made primarily from hay or straw bales along with paint and other supplies. Structures will be built to this year’s theme: Barnyard Animal, School or Sports Team Mascot or Disney Character.

The final structures will be built on the Dakotafest show grounds and must remain on display throughout the show, Aug. 16-18. The finished sculptures will be sold at auction during the show, with all proceeds going directly to the groups involved in the event.

Five groups participated in the Hay Bale Art Auction in 2021 and raised approximately $1,000 combined.

“The Hay Bale Art Auction is a great way to bring groups together in the summer and kick off the 2022-2023 school year with fresh funds for the chapters,” said Niki Jones, IDEAg events marketing director.

Hay bale art construction will take place Aug. 13-15. Interested buyers can attend Dakotafest to peruse the hay bale art showcase, then bid on their favorite at the auction on Aug. 17.

Organizations wishing to participate in the Hay Bale Art Auction must complete applications online at Dakotafest.com.
