(Jamestown, ND) — Construction is underway at what will become North Dakota’s first dedicated soybean plant. Officials broke ground at the Spiritwood Energy Park near Jamestown yesterday. The 350-million dollar facility will be owned by Green Bison Soy Processing, a joint venture between the ADM agribusiness conglomerate and Marathon Petroleum Corporation. The plant is expected to be producing about 600 million pounds of refined vegetable oil annually by harvest 2023. Marathon will use the oil to make renewable diesel fuel.
