PIERRE, S.D. – The Economic Development Professionals Association of South Dakota (EDPA) awarded seven scholarships to members who will be attending Fuel the Growth: Advancing Economic Development in our Communities on September 14-16 in Rapid City.
This two-and-a-half-day workshop will be held at, and hosted by, Black Hills State University Rapid City Center. This is a collaborative effort between Black Hills State University (BHSU) and the Rushmore Region Economic Development Alliance. This Basic Economic Development Course will cover 10 economic development topics. Participants will learn from experts and colleagues through presentations, panel discussions, case studies, and networking opportunities.
“The training offered through this program is a tremendous benefit for economic development professionals in our state,” said Tiffany Thompson of EDPA. “Our organization is proud to support the efforts of Black Hills State University and the Rushmore Region Economic Development Alliance through this scholarship for attendees.”
Awardees were required to be members of EDPA, commit to in-person attendance of the full two and a half days, be part of a South Dakota based organization, show the need for financial assistance, and demonstrate how this training will benefit their career in economic development. The greatest focus in choosing awardees was based on financial limitations of their organization.
