(Bismarck, ND) — Two lawmakers are pushing back on the planned carbon capture pipeline that will span parts of North Dakota. State Representatives Rick Becker and Jeff Magrum say they plan to introduce legislation to protect personal property rights. The lawmakers have announced legislation that would prevent eminent domain from being used to obtain easements for carbon dioxide pipelines. The legislation will be introduced when the session begins in January. Becker is running to unseat U.S. Senator John Hoeven, who is a longtime advocate for carbon capture.
