A possible rail strike has been averted, at least temporarily. According to an article from Reuters and other reports, the cooling off period deadline has been extended to at least December 4th by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (BMWED).
The National Carriers’ Conference Committee (NCCC) said the “extension eliminates the threat of a near-term freight rail service disruption.”
A rail shutdown would cause major transportation woes across the country including movement of agricultural products. This continues to be a evolving situation. Read more about the story from our partners at DTN/Progressive Farmer or Reuters below.
