Ethanol Plant In Iowa Fined for Failure to Control Grain Dust

(SIOUX CENTER, IA) – An ethanol plant in western Iowa has been fined by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for failing to control grain dust from the plant.

Siouxland Energy Cooperative has been fined $10,000 by the Iowa DNR for failing to operate without a proper air filtration system on one of its grain bins. The company told the Iowa DNR in November of 2022 they were unaware the filter was required. The company reportedly had known for 20 years that the equipment was needed and had told officials it was in place and being used.
