(Bismarck, ND) — New efforts are underway to alter plans for a carbon dioxide pipeline through North Dakota. Two former Bismarck mayors, the head of an environmental group, and a retired energy engineer all expressed concerns yesterday that the pipeline will be routed too close to the capital city. The group calls itself the North Dakota Energy Council and announced a petition at the state Capitol asking elected officials to act on specific safety measures related to Summit Carbon Solutions’ Midwest Carbon Express Pipeline. The energy coalition says it isn’t anti-pipeline, but wants safety measures added.
