Landowners Testify Against Navigator CO2 Project

(Fort Pierre, SD) — Landowners are testifying against the Navigator CO2 pipeline project. More than a half-dozen landowners told the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Tuesday why they don’t want Navigator’s proposed carbon-dioxide line to be permitted anywhere in the state. Republican Representative Karla Lems, a state lawmaker from rural Canton, went first, saying her concerns haven’t been reduced after a Navigator-affiliated official’s explanation of safety steps that the company plans to take for the line. Navigator wants to run about 13-thousand feet of CO2 pipeline through pieces of property that her family owns. The hearing continues today at 8 a.m. central time.
