Farmer Pleads Guilty To Crop Insurance Fraud

(Washburn, ND) — A Washburn farmer accused of crop insurance fraud has pleaded guilty to all charges against him. Authorities say Kent Pfaff provided false information to crop insurance companies and the U.S. Agriculture Department to receive increased payments. While he initially pleaded not guilty, he has since changed his plea to guilty. He will be sentenced in March, and prosecutors are recommending that Plaff be sentenced to three years of supervised release and pay 380-thousand dollars in restitution.
