Right to Repair Law Goes Into Effect in Minnesota; Doesn’t Include Agriculture

Minnesota’s right to repair law, known as the “Digital Fair Repair Act,” went into effect on July 1st, 2024. That makes Minnesota the sixth state nationwide to enact a right to repair law joining a list that includes Colorado, California, Maine, Massachusetts and New York.

However, according to the National Agricultural Law Center, Minnesota’s law does not apply to agricultural equipment. Colorado remains the only state to have enacted a law that permits farmers to repair farm equipment themselves.
