NDFB Announces Game-Changing Health Savings Plans

NDFB is pleased to announce the launch of North Dakota Farm Bureau (NDFB) Health Plans. The plans offer individuals and families solid and dependable coverage at an affordable rate.

“Many families have one spouse who works just for the employer health benefits, but with NDFB Health Plans, families will now have options,” said NDFB President Daryl Lies. “In many cases, this option will save individuals and families a significant amount of money. It’s going to be a real game-changer for a lot of people.”

Legislation was passed in 2023 allowing NDFB to begin offering health care coverage. The plans offer a variety of options to suit a wide array of health coverage needs regarding the level of coverage, deductibles, co-pays, out-of-pocket payments, preventative health benefits, dental, vision, and more.

“State health plans are not new to Farm Bureau members in other parts of the country,” said NDFB Executive Vice President and CEO Jeffrey Missling. “This high-quality health coverage has been serving Farm Bureau members in other states for decades and we are thrilled to bring it to North Dakota.”

NDFB Health Plans is administered by Farm Bureau Health Plans of Tennessee, which has provided health coverage to its members since 1947.

“Quality member service is paramount to NDFB,” said Missling. “It’s a commitment that drives everything we do. These new Farm Bureau-exclusive health plan offerings are a natural fit under that commitment, and we are completely confident in the products and benefits we’re offering in this program.”

NDFB Health Plans are for those under the age of 65 and include a national network of providers through United Healthcare Choice Plus and will operate much like health care coverage offered at companies with self-funded pools. Stand-alone bundled dental and vision plans are also available through NDFB Health Plans, giving members even more options. The dental plan uses the Delta Dental PPO Plus Premier network of dentists. VSP Choice is the vision network for eye doctors and quality eyewear at low out-of-pocket costs.

“North Dakota Farm Bureau Health Plans will be a significant cost-saving member benefit that we can offer our members,” said NDFB Director of Member Relations Megan Hanson. “The plans offer lower premiums, a large nationwide provider network, and excellent customer service. I’m excited to see our members take advantage of this remarkable opportunity.”

To apply for coverage, you must be a member of NDFB. Membership requires an annual fee of $50. NDFB Health Plans enrollment will begin on October 1, 2024, and coverage will begin on January 1, 2025. To learn more about North Dakota Farm Bureau Health plans, please visit www.ndfbhealthplans.com.
