JOHNSTON, Iowa, Oct. 18, 2024 — Midway through harvest and football season, farmers and fans are enjoying their limited-edition Pioneer® brand Brock Purdy jersey while supporting a good cause. Pioneer brand seeds teamed up with Brock Purdy, former Iowa State University and current San Francisco 49ers quarterback, to create custom football jerseys, with a portion of the sales being donated to the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement (IFAA). In total, $16,000 dollars was donated to IFAA, which provides merit-based financial awards to hundreds of students each year looking to continue their study of agriculture within Iowa.
“We couldn’t think of a better person to partner with and to help us raise funds for IFAA,” said Brandon Walter, Pioneer U.S. Corn Marketing Lead. “We were astounded by the positive response from farmers and how many purchased the jerseys. We knew there was tremendous interest in our partnership with Brock, but the success of the jersey sale showed how much excitement there was to help raise money for a deserving organization.”
Pioneer partnered with Purdy in early 2024 to share what it takes to succeed on and off the field – in football and farming – on social media throughout the year. The exclusive jersey collaboration was created to give back to Iowa agriculture.
“Thank you, Pioneer, for teaming up with me and giving back to IFFA to help students further their education,” Purdy said. “I spent four years at Iowa State University and saw first-hand how important their ag program is and how many students wish to pursue a degree in agriculture.”
The charitable donation will help support four students from the state of Iowa, over two years, who will continue their agriculture studies at Iowa State University.
“We are so thankful for this incredible contribution from Pioneer and all those who purchased a jersey,” said Lexi Beeler, IFAA Board Secretary. “Our organization is dedicated to helping the youth of Iowa thrive, and this donation will go toward supporting collegiate scholarships.”
