Closing Out an Exciting 2024 with Earth Optics

Industry voices and communicators recently convened for the 2024 National Association of Farm Broadcasters Convention in Kansas City in November. Corryn La Rue, a Farm Broadcaster, spoke with Gunnar Bodvarsson, business development executive for Earth Optics. Here’s what they had to say.

Q: Tell me a little bit about what’s been going on in 2024. We’re wrapping up the year.  Any highlights for you guys?

GB: This was a really exciting year for Earth Optics. We went through a great merger with Paternag, who is a soil and biological laboratory that’s located out in Emeryville, California. So we’re super excited to be joined with Rounds Out. Our product lineup is being able to offer growers full 360-degree insights into all different soil parameters, whether they’re chemistry, biology or physical.

Q: You know, as we come to the end of the year, we’re looking forward to 2025 and producers are maybe scratching their heads a little bit trying to figure out how this next year is going to work. What are you guys doing to be able to be there for producers during this next 365 days?

GB: Right now, we are full steam ahead as far as sampling out in the field, and we’ll be delivering the data to growers as soon as that lab data is turned around. Going into 2025, we’re working on our crop planting tool, which is exciting.

At the end of the day, what it’s about is just maximizing the return that farmers are making for their investments, whether it relates to soil amendments, tillage and any sort of mitigation efforts or practices they’re involving in their fields.

Q: As ‘24 comes to a close, we’ve got ‘25 in the headlights. Anything else that you want to add before we conclude our interview?

GB: The main thing that we are always trying to do is just make every acre count for growers and ensuring that it’s as profitable and as sustainable as possible. And that really involves unlocking the true potential of their soil through these 360-degree insights.

And, I’d love if people can check us out at earthoptics.com. I’m also the co-host of our podcast called Grounded. And then since we’re at NAFB, we just released a code NAFB24 to get $3 off an acre on our 360 Pro product.
