(FARGO, N.D.) — The North Dakota Livestock Alliance (NDLA) is pleased to announce the 6th Annual Livestock Summit, taking place January 28, 2025 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, ND. The 2025 summit will feature speakers, a tradeshow, and breakout sessions. Livestock and crop farmers that are interested in livestock development will have an opportunity to network with industry leaders. ND county and township officers can learn about livestock development opportunities for their communities. The event will be hosted by Emcee, Dr. Taw Scaff, NDSU Extension Swine Specialist.
The NDLA is proud to welcome various speakers from the region. Amy te Plate-Church from the Center for Food Integrity will start the event with her morning keynote address, ‘Farming, Food and Trust: Rethinking Communication in Agriculture’. In today’s society, which is facing polarization and information-overload, te Plate Church will share her ideas for building trust with food consumers and non-farm neighbors.
Next, Scott German will present ‘Evolving within the swine system to optimize your farm’s value’, focusing on how his family’s operation has utilized the swine integrator system to optimize their farm’s value. The breakout sessions include an impressive array of speakers from across the livestock industry, including Nathan Pesta, P.E. Vice President of DGA Engineering. He will describe several modern beef cattle housing options, including the pros, cons and costs to assist cattle producers in finding the right design for their operations.
The day will conclude with a panel discussion, ‘What to expect when expecting… a disaster’, moderated by Miranda Meehan, NDSU Extension Disaster Education Coordinator. Meehan and the panel of emergency professionals will share how to best prepare, respond to and recover from an emergency or disaster.
NDLA would like to thank all Summit sponsors, trade show exhibitors, and recognize the event’s Platinum Sponsors, the North Dakota Pork Council and ND Soybean Council. The Summit is being held on Tuesday January 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn 3803 13th Ave. S, Fargo, ND. Registration is free and open now at www.NDLivestock.org.
