DELAWARE, Ohio – Tadd Nicholson, Executive Director of Ohio Corn & Wheat, issued the following statement in response to a joint letter from Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost urging Congress to pass the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2025.

“We commend Attorney General Yost for his leadership in advocating for Ohio’s corn growers, fuel retailers, and consumers. His support for this critical legislation brings us one step closer to securing year-round access to E15, a cost-effective, American-made fuel blend that strengthens our economy and energy independence.”

“For over a decade, our organization has championed E15 as a reliable, high-performance fuel that saves drivers money at the pump while increasing demand for Ohio-grown corn. Thanks to Mr. Yost and the commitment of 15 other state attorney generals, we are closer than ever to making E15 a permanent option for consumers nationwide.”

E15, often marketed in Ohio as Unleaded 88, is the most tested fuel to date, with more than 120 billion miles driven on U.S. roads. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved E15 for safe use in 96% of vehicles made after 2001.

Ohio’s biofuel industry plays a vital role in the state’s economy. The seven ethanol plants in Ohio utilize 32% of the state’s corn yield, supporting over 19,700 jobs and 21,000 farms. Additionally, these plants produce renewable fuel, provide 2 million tons of animal feed, and generate high-quality CO₂ for the food and beverage industries.
