Drought Persists in North Dakota Despite Heavy Snows

(Bismarck, ND) — Despite the snowy winter well over half of North Dakotans are affected by drought. The U.S. Drought Monitor indicates 100-percent of the state is abnormally dry with nearly 80-percent in moderate drought conditions and 17-percent in severe drought. The areas of severe drought include McKenzie and Williams counties in northwest North Dakota and Cass, Barnes and Griggs counties in the eastern part of the state.
