Columbia Grain Commemorates World Hunger Day on May 28th by Donating its Balanced Bushel Line of Beans and Pulses to Feed the Children

PORTLAND, OR (MAY 2023)- Columbia Grain International (CGI) understands the need for balanced nutrition and the reality that many underserved communities and people don’t have access to it. World Hunger Day is on May 28th and is an opportunity to recognize the more than 800 million people that are hungry and the importance of playing our part to end world hunger for good. CGI is donating pallets of its healthy beans and pulses line, Balanced Bushel, to nonprofit Feed the Children to be distributed to hungry families in the United States and around the world in commemoration of World Hunger Day.

“After decades of progress, hunger is still on the rise,” said Business Manager of Retail Products for CGI, Bill Germano. “This year’s World Hunger Day campaign focus is sustainability and here at Columbia Grain we understand the critical role of creating sustainable food systems to ensure everyone has access to nutritious, affordable food, both now and in the future. Beans and pulses are the ideal, healthy, and sustainable protein to nourish our children, families and communities.”

CGI’s donation to Feed the Children will feed thousands of families.

“CGI’s donations allow us to further our goal of bringing shelf-stable staples to those in need in honor of World Hunger Day,” said Feed the Children’s Manager of GIK Partnership, Terry Jones

Through donations to its local community and partnering with Feed the Children, CGI furthers its mission to nourish the world, safely.
