(FARGO, ND) — On Thursday, the USDA released the June 2023 Quarterly Hogs and Pigs Report and it showed inventory of all hogs and pigs up slightly from last year. The number as of June 1st was 72.4 million head, up slightly from last year but down 1% from March 1st, 2023.
Breeding inventory was down slightly from last year but up 1% from the previous quarter while market hog inventory was up slightly from last year but down 1% from last quarter. Farrowing intentions for the June-August 2023 period is down 4% from last year.
