(WASHINGTON D.C.)– On Thursday, USDA released the latest Milk Production Report for the month of June and it showed production was 18.1 billion pounds or up 0.2% from June of 2022. The May revised production number came in at 19.0 billion pounds, up 0.9% from May of 2022. The revision for May was an increase of 16 million pounds from last month’s preliminary estimates.
Production per cow averaged 2,028 pounds for June, 1 pound above June 2022. The number of milk cows on farms in the 24 major states was 8.93 million head, 14,000 head more than June 2022, but 20,000 head less than May 2023.
