Nationwide Corn Condition Up 4% This Week; Spring Wheat Falls 1%

(FARGO, ND) — After a week of more beneficial rains and cooler temperatures across much of the Corn Belt, the nationwide corn condition rating went up 4% in the good to excellent (G/E) category as of Sunday, July 9th, 2023. The crop now stands at 55% G/E nationwide. The rating for soybeans went up 1% in the good to excellent category to now stand at 51% G/E as of Sunday. However, both nationwide ratings for corn and soybeans remain the lowest for this time of year since 2012.

Nebraska saw the biggest jump in its corn crop rating, rising 13 percentage points from 49% to 62% this past week. North Dakota corn stands at 67% G/E, South Dakota corn at 56% G/E, Minnesota and Iowa corn both at 61% G/E as of Sunday.

Soybeans in Nebraska also saw the biggest weekly jump, rising from 43% to 55% this past week. North Dakota soybeans are 51% G/E, South Dakota soybeans at 53% G/E, Minnesota soybeans at 61% G/E and Iowa soybeans at 52% G/E as of Sunday.

Spring wheat nationwide went down 1% in the G/E category and now stands at 47% as of Sunday. North Dakota spring wheat is at 42% G/E, Minnesota spring wheat at 62% G/E and South Dakota spring wheat at 29% G/E as of Sunday.

Winter wheat harvest is now 46% completed nationwide.
