(WASHINGTON D.C.)– Cattle on feed was down 2% according to the latest report from USDA for the month of September.
The September 1st number totaled 11.1 million head for cattle on feed. Placements in feedlots during the month of August was 2.00 million head, down 5% from 2022. Marketings of fed cattle during August came in at 1.88 million head which was 6% below 2022 levels. Other disappearance was 55,000 head during August, 4% above 2022.
Most of those numbers came in essentially right in line with the pre-report average estimates and within the range of expectations.
