Iowa Producers Using Biosecurity Measures To Slow Down Spread Of Virus

(Calhoun County, IA) — With no vaccine available, Iowa poultry farmers are relying on biosecurity measures in hopes of slowing the spread of the bird flu that has killed over 61 million birds. Over half a hundred million birds have died from the current strain H5N1 since last February. Data shows biosecurity measures are more valuable now than what was made in 2015. Right now, the only solution is to eliminate entire flocks exposed to the virus to help stop any outbreaks.
