(Fargo, ND) — American Crystal Sugar is calling this year’s sugar beet crop the best in company history. The company’s CEO announced yesterday that beets processed at plants in northwest Minnesota and eastern North Dakota set a record for yield, averaging nearly 32 tons an acre. A warm fall led to a longer growing season, with just enough moisture to produce healthy plants. Farmers are expected to receive a payment of nearly 85-dollars a ton, also a record for the company.
