BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State University Extension’s 4-H program will host the fourth annual 4-H Capitol Day on Jan. 17, 2024, in Pierre.
The event is in conjunction with Brookings and SDSU Days at the Capitol and 4-H supporters of all ages are encouraged to attend. It is free. Event organizers encourage participants to wear their 4-H green to support the organization.
Legislative educational experiences will be available throughout the day, including Capitol building tours, viewing legislative committee hearings, and roundtable sessions with state legislators. There will also be an ice cream social.
Registration is required by Jan. 1. To register, visit extension.sdstate.edu/events and search “capitol”. More details and a full schedule will be provided to those registered after registration closes.
Event coordinators are members of the South Dakota 4-H Civic Education Committee, which consists of Jenae Hansen-Gross, SDSU Extension 4-H Volunteer Development Field Specialist; Ron Frederick, SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Program Advisor – Rosebud; and Hilary Risner, SDSU Extension Program Manager and Regional Youth Educator.
