The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association (NDSA) Feeder Council will host its 2024 Beyond the Bunk Workshop Jan. 18 at The Gallows Hall in Towner, N.D.
The workshop will begin at 11 a.m. with NDSA Vice President Randy Schmitt, a cow-calf producer from Rugby, N.D., offering a welcome and an NDSA policy update.
The event will feature nutrition and animal health topics. Featured speakers include Chad Zehnder and Dr. Gerald Stokka, North Dakota State University associate professor and Extension veterinarian. Zehnder’s discussion will focus on efficiencies in cattle feedlots, specifically mineral programs, bunk management and step-up rations. Stokka will present on stewardship, preparing cattle for feedlots and overall feedlot health.
A noon lunch will be provided.
“The Beyond the Bunk Workshop is a great opportunity to learn about an array of beef industry topics with direct application to North Dakota feeding operations,” said NDSA Feeder Council Chairman Alan Heim of Bismarck, N.D.
The workshop is open to all who are interested. There is no cost to attend. Pre-registration is not required, but is appreciated for planning purposes. To pre-register, contact NDSA Environmental Services Director Scott Ressler at (701) 223-2522 or sressler@ndstockmen.org.
