Lincoln County, SD Moving Forward with Regulation of Carbon Pipelines

(Canton, SD) — Officials in Lincoln County are moving forward with ordinances that would regulate carbon pipelines in the county. County officials say they expect to have draft ordinances to present to the Lincoln County Commission by next week. The Carbon Dioxide Transport and Storage Advisory Committee adopted the recommendations at its meeting last month. The company — Summit Carbon Solutions — is seeking permission to send a carbon sequestration pipeline through Lincoln County and 17 other counties. The pipeline would capture carbon emissions from ethanol plants to turn ethanol into a green source of energy.
