Gov. Noem Testifies To House Agricultural Committee

(Washington, D.C.) — Governor Noem is warning leaders on Capitol Hill that China poses a threat to American farmland. She was in D.C. yesterday to testify before the House Agricultural Committee, saying Chinese ownership of U.S. land is a trend that needs to stop now. According to a 2021 report by the Department of Agriculture, China owns close to 400-thousand acres of U.S. farmland, jumping 30 percent between 2019 and 2020. Noem said the threat of China is “very real,” and the country has “a thousand-year plan to become the world dominating power in the world.” Congressman Dusty Johnson, who sits on the committee, backed Noem and praised her for working to defend South Dakota from China.
