Over 150 Minnesota Farm Bureau Members Attend Day on the Hill During National Ag Day

EAGAN, Minn. – Nearly 150 farmers and ranchers from across the state came together to share their stories and the impact of agriculture as part of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation’s annual Day on the Hill on March 19.

Attendees started the day with a briefing before heading to the Capitol steps to hear from agriculture leaders including Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen, Sen. Aric Putnam, Rep. Samantha Vang and MFBF President Dan Glessing. Commissioner Petersen also presented the gathered group with a proclamation for ‘Agriculture Day in Minnesota.’ Afterwards, the group headed to the Capitol to meet with their local elected officials and attend committee hearings.

“Meeting with legislators in person is the best way to get our members’ concerns heard at the Capitol,” said President Dan Glessing. “We are always excited to see their passion and enthusiasm in action as they advocate for their farms and ranches and the future of agriculture.”

Other activities included a tractor on display on the Capitol Mall, and signs showcasing the impact of agriculture on Minnesota’s economy.
