QUINCY, IL, March 12, 2024 — In response to growing domestic and international demand, Phibro Animal Health Corporation (Phibro) is expanding its manufacturing facility to support Animate®. Animate nutritional specialty product is a patented anionic mineral supplement for prepartum dairy cattle, which, when fed as recommended, may help to reduce the incidence of clinical and subclinical hypocalcemia, leading to enhanced cow health and milk production.
“Expansion of our plant signifies Phibro’s commitment to Animate and the ongoing growth we have seen over the past 12 years,” said Todd Armstrong, Ph.D., Vice President of U.S. Ruminant Business, Phibro. “Our dairy sales and technical teams will continue to bring Animate — the premier prepartum product and program — to more dairy producers who want to maximize the health and productivity of their cows.”
“This expansion not only reinforces our commitment to the domestic market but also positions Phibro to meet the increased demand of our growing international business,” stated Larry Miller, Chief Operating Officer, Phibro. “Our global colleagues continue to demonstrate the positive health benefits of feeding Animate in Phibro’s recommended DCAD (dietary cation anion difference) program under a variety of feeding strategies. The expansion of our production facility will add the needed production, warehousing and shipping capacity required to meet the continued growth of Animate.”
Animate is recommended to be fed to prepartum dairy cows a minimum of 21 days before calving to help optimize calcium metabolism during the critical days before, during and after calving, which may help reduce the risk of clinical and subclinical hypocalcemia, conditions that can result in significant health issues and reduced milk production.
“Because of its high palatability, concentrated source of anions and complete formulation, Animate can be fed as part of a fully acidogenic negative DCAD diet, a program that has been repeatedly demonstrated to help optimize the health and performance of the transition dairy cow,” said Ken Zanzalari, Ph.D. Dipl. ACAN, Animate Product Director, Phibro.
