National Sorghum Producers Seeks New Leaders for Board of Directors

LUBBOCK, Texas (April 10, 2024)—National Sorghum Producers has opened applications for two positions on the 2024 board of directors. NSP is looking for new producer leaders who are passionate about advancing the crop and shaping the future of the sorghum industry.

“Today, the sorghum industry stands at a crossroads of tradition and innovation, and as your board chairman and a fellow farmer, I’m reaching out to those among you who are driven to make a meaningful difference,” NSP Chairman Craig Meeker said. “We are eager to welcome new voices, ideas and perspectives that will help usher in a new era for our industry. If you have a passion for advocacy and a vision for sustainability, I encourage you to apply.”

Board members are instrumental in advancing policies and building relationships that benefit sorghum farmers and the industry. Candidates should be NSP members passionate about advocacy and fundraising, with a vision to advance the industry. No prior board experience is necessary to apply.

“We are looking for proactive leaders eager to drive the sorghum industry forward,” NSP CEO Tim Lust said. “Our farmer-led board of directors plays a crucial role in advocating for sorghum farmers and ensuring NSP’s strong representation in Washington, D.C. It’s about advocacy, vision and making an impact.”

Applications are due Friday, May 10, 2024, at 5 p.m. central time. After the application deadline, the NSP Nominating Committee will review all applications before making nominations to the NSP Board of Directors for consideration and election during the August summer board meeting. Selected members will serve a three-year term, beginning October 1, 2024—the start of NSP’s fiscal year.
