WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – April 26, 2024 – The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) has opened registration for its upcoming webinar diving into key considerations for farmers with questions about carbon farming programs to increase their on-farm income.
IFBF’s “Carbon Farming Programs- Should You Be Signing Up?” webinar will be held May 29th at 1:00 p.m. The webinar will help answer questions and provide valuable insight as farmers seek to navigate the ever-changing agriculture environment as private-sector companies present new opportunities and federal programs are developed.
IFBF hosts Dr. Alejandro Plastina, associate professor/extension economist in the Department of Economics at Iowa State University (ISU), to discuss current updates in the world of carbon farming and how those developments impact farmers. Dr. Plastina will cover topics including benefits and costs of enrollment, questions farmers need to ask before enrolling, and how enrollment interacts with other emerging carbon initiatives.
“The landscape of carbon sequestration and carbon farming programs is constantly changing, and we know farmers have several questions regarding how these programs could impact their farming operations,” says Zach Brummer, Iowa Farm Bureau farmer education program manager. “Our webinar will help members explore the short-and long-term economic drivers behind these programs to understand their ability to impact farmers’ bottom line.”
